Snow Capped Yarns has added a new yarn to the family; Let me introduce you to Gravina 

In sticking with our theme (sort of), it is named after an island in the Prince William Sound.  I try to correlate the weights of the yarn to the relative size of the island: bigger the yarn = larger the island.  It's not a perfect science, especially since we keep adding new yarn bases and  we're running out of islands .

Heading for Aloha

Heading for Aloha

If you don't see me here for a couple weeks it's because I am for once,

leaving my computer at home.

We can recharge our batteries in separate states.

I'll be swimming and watching sunsets, walking barefoot in the sand and trying my best not to get sun burnt.

And I'll be writing, with a pen and paper and taking plenty of photos of that little patch of lava in the Pacific.

Emerging from the Dark (with a Sweater)

I spent most of the latter half of December sick, under the weather, under the covers, in bed or on the couch.  The too busyness of life was forcibly released from my tightly clutched hands.  

The small clues of too busy, too much, that I wasn't heeding, finally got too loud to ignore.  

A high temperature and no energy are hard to argue with.  I finally had to listen.  To slow down, to rest, to cull, to do only the basics.  It's taken far longer than I would have liked to get better, but it's given me some good time for reflection, and for simple pleasures.

I've taken time to knit just for fun, which was the only reason I used to ever knit.

The Icelaska Backstory

The Icelaska Backstory

In late August I returned from a 2 week trip to Iceland.  I went to explore fiber, knitting and the current craft culture.

Within a couple weeks of returning home I began dyeing a large collection of yarn for what became the Olde Salt Collection.

You can hear more about the seven colorways in this little video,  but aside from colors and yarns  I knew that a new release would mean we would need new patterns!

And that's part of the story I wanted to tell you more about today.
